Blood Sweat and Tears Woodstock Setlist Live

Blood, Sweat & Tears (BS&T) is an American jazz rock group formed in New York City in 1967. The band is renowned for its innovative blend of rock, jazz, pop, and R&B, incorporating big-band jazz elements with rock instrumentation. The original lineup included Al Kooper, Steve Katz, Bobby Colomby, Jim Fielder, Jerry Weiss, Fred Lipsius, Dick Halligan, and Randy Brecker. Al Kooper was a significant driving force behind the band's formation, aiming to expand rock music to include jazz, blues, classical, and folk influences.

The group's self-titled second album, released in 1969, achieved significant commercial success, spending seven weeks at the top of the U.S. charts and winning the Grammy Award for Album of the Year in 1970. This album featured hit songs such as "Spinning Wheel," "And When I Die," and "You've Made Me So Very Happy," all of which reached number two on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.

Blood, Sweat & Tears has undergone numerous personnel changes over the years, with more than 175 musicians having been part of the band. Despite these changes, the group has maintained its reputation for high-quality musicianship and continues to perform worldwide. The band has also been involved in philanthropic efforts, such as providing scholarships to support musical education

My Take:

Note: Their fusion of rock and brass instrumentation resonated with the crowd through their dynamic and innovative sound... known for blending rock, blues, pop, jazz, and classical music forms, performed with a powerful horn section that added a unique layer to their live set. This combination of genres created a hybrid sound that was both accessible and sophisticated, appealing to the diverse audience at the festival. Their set included popular hits like "Spinning Wheel" and "And When I Die," which showcased their ability to merge different musical styles seamlessly. Despite the late hour and the challenges of the festival's schedule, their performance allowed individual band members to expand on their studio work, captivating those who remained in the audience with their energetic and polished delivery.

Unfortunately, Greed became a part of their Show as their Manager, Bennett Glotzer, wanted to get Royalty from the filming and stopped it... but some got through.

Regardless, they are in my Top 10 Bands at Woodstock at #5.
